Classic Car Show to show off at the Expo

[view:node_ad=5]Organizers for the Chamber of Commerce’s 23rd Annual Home and Business Expo are looking to attract classic car owners to display pre-1975 vintage vehicles at the Classic Car Show sponsored by La Quinta Inns & Suites on Sunday, October 13 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. outside the Expo tent main entrance in the College of the Canyons parking lot.

 

While all cars are welcome to display, only pre-1975 will be eligible to compete in 18 “Best of” categories. Gates open at 7:00 a.m. and all cars must be staged by 9:00 a.m.  There is a $10 registration fee that includes free admission to the Home and Business Expo and a commemorative gift.  Contact Robin Choppe at (661) 702-6977 to pre-register or entrants may choose to register at the gate.  Vehicles accepted on a first-come, first serve basis.

 

“Participants should be prepared to have fun,” said Adam Moskowitz, who co-chairs this year’s event along with Sam Najarian.  In addition to upwards of 70 to 90 classic cars on exhibit, vendors will be on hand along with an oldies-style band performing during the show.

 

The Classic Car Show is just one of the events featured at Expo, October 13 and 14, under the giant tent in the College of the Canyons parking lot at the corner of Valencia Boulevard and Rockwell Canyon Road.  Up to 150 Chamber members will participate in what has become the ultimate “shop local” meet-and-greet for homeowners, businesses and local organizations.

 

“Expo gets bigger and better every year,” said Gary Choppe, chairman of the chamber’s Expo committee.  “It’s an opportunity to showcase chamber members to local residents who want to know what goods and services are available locally or are interested in learning who to call when a need arises.”

 

 The public is encouraged to attend Expo’s family-friendly weekend event.

 

In addition to exhibitor booths there will be special prize drawings. The KHTS Expo Passport challenge returns this year with specially marked passport tickets available at the main entrance and the KHTS AM 1220 booth with a list of participating vendors and booth numbers.  Contestants return completed stamped passports to the KHTS booth for prize drawings to be held live on the air Monday morning.

 

Prizes include a grand prize vacation package for a 5-night land only Club Med vacation for two to a North American zone village provided by All-Travel.com. Additional prizes include restaurant certificates, Southern California attraction passes, and a tankless water heater.

 

The City of Santa Clarita sponsors the main stage where community entertainment features local talent and exhibition demonstrations throughout the weekend, including performances by Canyon Theater Guild, Dance Studio 84, Fun & Fit Gymnastics, Gym Cheer USA, and Hart High Folklorico.  Musical entertainment includes the jazz sounds of Steven Gail, along with the Men of Harmony Chorus.

 

Saturday begins with a pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. hosted by the Santa Clarita Valley Rotary Club.  General Expo hours are Saturday, October 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  A $1.00 donation for ages 18 and over includes a raffle entry for a big screen television give-away.  Food and drink will be available for purchase within the exhibit area.
