The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) advises motorists traveling on northbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) to plan ahead to avoid holiday-related delays from Friday, May 22 through Monday, May, 25. Caltrans will suspend roadway construction work today through Tuesday morning, May 26.
The following lane closures will remain in effect on I-5 In North Los Angeles County and Kern County during the weekend:
NORTHBOUND I-5 AT TEMPLIN HIGHWAY
North Los Angeles County – One northbound lane (#4, far right) remains closed due to an on-going slope stabilization project, roadway repairs and improvements. The lane closure is 5 miles north of Santa Clarita.
NORTHBOUND I-5 AT THE KERN COUNTY LINE
Lebec – A pavement rehabilitation project is underway on northbound I-5 near the Kern County line to the Grapevine Creek Bridge. Just over one mile of the northbound I-5 #1 lane (fast lane) from the County line remains closed until June 19, 2009.
NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND I-5 AT LAVAL ROAD/WHEELER RIDGE ROAD
Wheeler Ridge, Kern County – The northbound and southbound #1 lane (fast lane) at the Laval Road/Wheeler Ridge Interchange is currently closed to traffic through late summer 2009.
The $6.3 million project will construct a new bridge, modify the northbound and westbound Laval Road off-ramps and signalize the Laval Road East at Wheeler Ridge Road intersection.
Motorists will be alerted to freeway lane closures via construction signage and electronic message boards along Interstate 5. For road conditions in California, call the Caltrans Highway Information Number at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).
