Caltrans will close up to three lanes of the southbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) in the
Santa Clarita area beginning Monday, August 3 and continuing until Friday, August 7.
Closures scheduled are:

- 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, up to three lanes from Violin Canyon/Lake Hughes Road to Magic Mountain Parkway;
9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, up to three lanes from Magic Mountain Parkway to Calgrove Boulevard.Tuesday, August 4
4 p.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, up to three lanes from Violin Canyon/Lake Hughes Road to Magic Mountain Parkway;

11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, August 8, two lanes from Magic Mountain Parkway to Calgrove BoulevardThe closures are to enable joint seal assembly related to a pavement restoration project on I-5 between Calgrove Boulevard and Lake Hughes Road. J. Mcloughlin Engineering, Inc. is the contractor on the $12.5 million project, which started in September 2008 and will complete in summer 2010.
The project repairs storm damage incurred in the winter of 2007-08. When completed, the pavement will be stronger and will provide a smoother riding surface for motorists.
