Truck Route closures having an impact on Santa Clarita traffic.

Sunday, the closure of the north bound truck lanes by Caltrans caused major delays for passengers between on the I-5 between the 405 and the 14 freeways.

Caltrans told KHTS that the closure was due to some emergency pavement repairs that had to be made on the route. Reportedly some potholes were causing damage to vehicles and therefore the move to fix them was given top priority.

Now, with the north bound truck route open again, Caltrans has closed the south bound truck lanes from the I-5/14 connector to just past Balboa Blvd for guardrail construction. That closure should be in place until later this evening.

The guardrail installation on the south bound truck route will continue for several non-consecutive days this month, with most of the closure times set for 11:00am -7:00pm.
