Campaign To Save The County Seal

Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich joined Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn and Pastor Jack Hayford of The Church on the Way in Van Nuys at a press conference on Monday, July 11, 2005 at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration to rally support for the signature gathering campaign to keep the cross on the Los Angeles County seal.

“The cross reflects the history of Los Angeles County which began with the founding of the San Gabriel Mission by Father Junipero Serra in September of 1771,” said Supervisor Antonovich.  “However, like the totalitarians and book burners of the past, the ACLU and the Board majority is attempting to re-write history.”

The campaign to save the cross on the County seal needs to submit the signatures of more than 170,000 registered county voters by September 26.  To be certain of reaching that goal after any invalid signatures are discarded, the signatures must be gathered by September 10.

Petition forms for signature collection can be obtained by calling 800-707-3994 or downloaded on the internet at www.lachco.org.
