Deputies from the SCV Sheriff's Station, Special Enforcement Bureau, Crisis Negotiation Team, & Arson/Explosives responded to a barricade/hostage situation last evening around 5:30.
The suspect, 53-year old Mark Hillman of Canyon Country, was arrested after a three-hour ordeal at the Diamond Park Apartments. He had apparently threatened to kill his sister, who lives with him. She wasn't injured.
Hillman allegedly assualted another woman who lived in the complex with a large butcher knife before returning to his apartment. He refused to come out, claiming he had explosives with him. While negotiating with Hillman, deputies evacuated the surrounding apartments, located off Soledad Canyon & Sierra Highway. The suspect finally stepped out of his unit while brandishing the knife.
He was taken into custody around 8:30 p.m. after a Sheriff's dog was deployed, causing him to drop the weapon.
