Former baseball player dies after stabbing.
A former Canyon High baseball player was identified as the victim of an early morning homicide in Stevenson Ranch.
20-year-old Josh Pipho was stabbed and run over during a fight on the 25200 block of Steinbeck Avenue and died at the scene. A second victim was also stabbed and remains in critical condition at the hospital.
Police took eight young men who had witnessed the fight in for questioning, but no arrests have been made in the case. Neighbors said the condominium complex has been the site of several rowdy parties in the past.
A woman who lives nearby said that just before midnight, she heard tires screeching and an “unusual thump” just before an older black Chevrolet sped past her house. When she looked back, she saw the victim’s body lying in the street. At the same time, she heard another neighbor screaming for help for the second victim.
The driver of the black car is still at large. Anyone with information is asked to call (323) 890-5500.
