The annual event, held at the theater’s home in the Downtown Newhall Arts District, was a chance to recognize both stage accomplishments and those of the volunteers working behind the scenes.
Two big musicals, “My Fair Lady” performed on the Newhall stage and “Beauty and the Beast” produced by the CTG’s Santa Clarita Regional Theatre division and performed at College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center each garnered six awards, with “Beauty” winning Best Musical. The family-centered production “Over The River And Through The Woods” about an Italian family’s Sunday dinner tradition was given five awards, including three Best Acting Awards, Best Direction and the Carmen Sarro award for Best Play.

Sarro, a founding member of the Guild, was an ardent arts supporter who helped the theater grow from a small group rehearsing in a storefront to the current organization that produces nine shows a year and runs year-round youth workshops.  Her daughter, Christine Sexton, presented the award.
John and Claudia Alexopoulos, who are educators during the day and have devoted their spare time to the theater to work as scenic artists, prop masters, costumers and volunteer wranglers, were given the CTG’s prestigious “Irving G. Wallpaper” award for outstanding service.
Longtime member and outgoing membership secretary Sharon Cummings was also honored for her dedication to the growth and support of the Guild.
