“Adventures in Theatre” is a daytime workshop that caters specifically to home schooled children that introduces them to the performance arts. Participants will create their own rendition of “Seussical Jr.” Admission to the workshop is by audition and director approval. Class takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m and begins on Sept. 12 until Nov. 26.
“Act III, ” under the direction of experienced director, actor and educator Mike Davies, is a workshop for students enrolled in school that takes place after-school. This fall, the ACT III participants will create a production of ‘The Snow Queen.” The workshop’s registration is open until September 17. The workshop takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“Children enrolled in these programs gain self-confidence and improve in their ability to read and meet deadlines all while having fun. We encourage kids to develop their imagination by building character and analytical skills,” said Patti Finley, director of youth programs at the Canyon Theatre Guild.
Each workshop runs for 10 weeks and meets at the Canyon Theatre Guild at 24242 Main Street, in Old Town Newhall. Tuition is $275 for 10 weeks for both workshops. Scholarships are available through the Boys and Girls Club.
