A carjacker who stole a late-model Honda from victims at Heritage Park is in the hospital, but deputies are ready to arrest him for his crime when he’s feeling better.
According to Lt. Brenda Cambra, at approximately 10:30 Friday night, the man approached a couple at the park, brandished a gun and demanded money. He then took the keys to their 2010 Honda Civic and left the park in an unknown direction.
At about 1 a.m., Cambra said the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station got a call from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, saying that they had a patient who was trying to admit himself into the hospital and that he was in possession of an airsoft gun. They determined that this was their alleged carjacker and went to the hospital to recover the car.
The car has been returned to the victims and the man remains in the hospital. He will be arrested for carjacking upon his release.
