[view:node_ad=5]Kerry Carmody, chief executive of Providence Holy Cross
Medical Center since 1999 and widely credited for bringing national recognition
to the Mission Hills hospital, has been named regional chief operations officer
for Providence Health & Services, California.

Arnold Schaffer, vice president and chief executive of
Providence Health & Services, California,
made the announcement Monday. Carmody will transfer to the regional post as
soon as his successor is named.

“Kerry has been the key to the success of Providence
Holy Cross Medical
Center, which is one of the largest
and most respected hospitals serving the San Fernando Valley
and the Santa Clarita area,” Schaffer said.
“He is a strong leader and he’s passionate about the communities he
serves. Those qualities are crucial to Providence Health & Services, California,
as we experience significant growth in our mission to ensure quality and
affordable health care is available to all.”

As chief operations officer, Carmody will oversee operations
at the five Providence California
medical centers – Providence Saint Joseph, Providence Holy Cross, Providence
Tarzana, Little Company of Mary Hospital
– Torrance and Little Company of Mary
SanPedro Hospital
– as well as numerous ancillary care centers.

“I’m extremely honored to step into this new regional role,
although it means leaving the incredibly talented and dedicated staff at Providence
Holy Cross Medical
Center,” Carmody said. “As we
expand, Providence Health & Services is poised to become recognized as one
of the best health care organizations in Southern California.
That is a credit to our leadership, physicians, employees, our board and the
philanthropic foundations at all five of our medical centers who are devoted to
providing quality and compassionate care.”

Carmody began his career in 1973 at Providence Saint Joseph
