Beginning in late November, the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library will operate on a limited basis for approximately seven weeks to repair the carpet. This work is covered by warranty and will be managed by the County of Los Angeles, Internal Services Department.
The required work will be done in two phases to accommodate a temporary storefront operation in the Community Room of the Canyon Country Library.

The storefront library will operate seven days per week, maintain regular operation hours, and provide patrons with the ability to pick up hold material, place material holds, utilize a dozen public computer work stations, and print documents.
All furniture and library materials will be removed to accommodate the necessary work. During this time, the Canyon Country Library’s collection of materials will be placed in storage and will not be available for lending. Materials can, however, be requested from other libraries and picked up at the temporary operation in the community room at the Canyon Country Library.
During the time of the work, the Library floor will be shot-blasted, followed by the installation and testing of a moisture seal. The carpet tiles will then be re-installed, and all shelving and Library materials will be returned to the Library.
The warranty work schedule is as follows:
November 7 – Work will commence on Monday, November 7, beginning with repairing the carpeting in the Canyon Country Library’s Community Room. Sealing of the floor in the Community Room is scheduled to be completed on Saturday, November 19. During this time, the main area of the Library will remain open to patrons and maintain regular service hours through Sunday, November 20.
November 21 – Work will commence on Monday, November 21, to repair the carpeting within the main Library facility. The main Library and the storefront operation in the Community Room will not be open from Monday, November 21, through Friday, November 25 (including Thanksgiving and the Friday after the holiday, regularly scheduled closure days for all three Santa Clarita Public Library branches).
November 26 – On Saturday, November 26, the storefront operation in the Community Room will open and provide limited Library services. The storefront Library will allow patrons to pick up material holds, place material holds, and utilize a dozen public computers. The temporary, storefront operation will be open during the regular hours of the Canyon Country Library through the completion of the work.
January 11, 2012 – It is anticipated that the carpet repairs and reinstallation of the furniture and Library materials will be completed by the week of January 11, 2012.
“I want to express my gratitude to the staff of the Los Angeles County, Internal Services Department for working with us in such a responsive manner. Their professionalism and sense of urgency to complete these repairs in a timely fashion is very much appreciated by our community,” commented Ken Pulskamp, City Manager.
