Case Continued For Valencia Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 14 Girls

A Valencia man accused of sexually assaulting 14 girls had his case continued Tuesday, and he will be back in court Jan. 10, according to officials with the San Fernando Superior Court.

The case for alleged pedophile Michael Downs, of Valencia, who faces 34 sex-related charges involving 15 victims, one as young as 12 years of age, is still in the pretrial hearing phase, officials said. Thirty-three of the charges are for felonies and one is a misdemeanor.

Those charges include unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, sexual penetration with a foreign object, oral copulation with a person under 16, sexual battery and sending harmful matter.

The alleged sexual assaults occurred over a 19-month period between May, 2010 until the then 19-year old Downs was taken into custody in December 2011, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials.

Downs has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case is currently being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer in Dept. E of the San Fernando Courthouse.
