The arrest occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan 14, on the 31000 block of Castaic Oak Lane.
“Van Nuys area officers, along with LAPD Metropolitan (Division) officers, brought the suspect in without incident,” according to LAPD spokesman Mike Lopez.
The suspect, Bishoy Fahmy, is a 27-year-old Castaic resident and being held in the jail at the Van Nuys LAPD Station at this time.
Fahmy has been in hot water with local authorities before, back in July of 2012 scvnews.com reported he was arrested on suspicion of two felony counts: assault with a deadly weapon and illegal possession of an assault weapon.
Fahmy brandished a loaded AK-47 at a woman who parked in front of his residence on Castaic Oak Lane, the woman, and her husband then retreated into their nearby home and called the police.

Fahmy was arrested soon after leaving a Los Angeles County pawn shop, and investigators were able to recover jewelry as well as other valuables that were believed to have been taken from the homes.
Upon searching his Fahmy’s residence two loaded firearms were recovered, despite Fahmy still being on probation from his 2012 weapons charge.

I am not a ‘law and order’ type. In fact, I don’t mind much that the county jails seem to be a revolving door when it comes to petty drug possession/use and petty thefts to support their habit. My justification for that is, ‘at least it makes space to lock the real criminals up’. I read something like this (daily) and wonder how someone was threatening people with an AK-47, arrested on that charge, on probation for burglary… which this guy was busted for less than four years ago… and now he’s still running free and attempting murder?
Who are the judges out there giving these guys a slap on the wrist? Can these judges and prosecutors not tell the difference between petty crimes and those committed using assault weapons…. burglary… attempted murder, etc? Well, this guy will probably get a year… out in six months and end up killing someone.
You make a valid point , however at times the judges hands are tied when handling down sentencing and with the jails being Overcrowded keeping certain people locked up isn’t a priority anymore. So even if the judge hands down the harshest sentence possible once the inmate is processed if he meats certain criteria he can be released well before serving even half of his sentence.
The photo shows this guy is thinking what ‘Your Mama’ described will likely happen: He looks as though he’s thinking that the cops are useless, that he’ll beat the rap and not even go to jail. This article doesn’t cover what the attempted murder leading to his arrest on Saturday is about.
