Detectives with the Homicide Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Castaic, near the Templin Highway exit of Interstate 5.

“Detectives rolled out at 6:46 a.m., and the time of the incident was 5:15 a.m.,” according to
Sgt. Diane Hecht of Sheriff’s Department Headquarters Bureau. “It was involving an off-duty police officer with the La Habra Police Department.”
Any time an officer-involved shooting takes place, it’s investigated by the Homicide Bureau of the Sheriff’s Department.
No one is believed to be in custody at this time, according to Hecht, however, the incident is being considered an ongoing investigation, and officials have said they will release a statement this afternoon.
Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station confirmed the investigation, and that it was being handled by the Homicide Bureau.
