Celebrating The Month Of OAKtober

City to celebrate month of oak trees

ImageIn celebration of our oak trees and to help promote their protection, the City of Santa Clarita’s Urban Forestry division is hosting Oaktober!

Held during Oak Tree Awareness month, Oaktober in Santa Clarita will include two free oak tree workshops for community members to learn about oak tree care and the City oak tree permit process. The free oak tree seminars will be held on October 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Masters’ College and on Wednesday, October 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Robinson Ranch Golf Course.

At the workshops, City Arborists and oak tree specialists will discuss the City’s Oak Tree Ordinance and how it relates to local property owners, the care of oak trees, how to prune your oak, pests and diseases, how to water, construction around oaks, soil grade changes, and what to be aware of to keep your oak healthy.

“The City of Santa Clarita is committed to increasing the understanding of the Oak Tree Ordinance on private property because oak trees and their care are a high priority for our community and for the City,” commented Mayor Marsha McLean.
