Dogs allowed to run free in back portion of Central Park.
The city unleashed a treat for thousands of four-legged canine residents Friday by opening Central Bark, a new fenced area of Central Park on Bouquet Canyon Road where dogs can play and run free.

The special canine compound is at the back of the park and is a temporary solution to the many requests City Hall has received for a leash-free place for dogs. A permanent Dog Park will be opened as part of the expansion of the Sports Complex in 2008-2009.
Hours at the park are from dawn to dusk; dogs must be vaccinated and wear their license tags and both canines and their humans are encouraged to behave. Separate areas are maintained for smaller dogs. For a complete list of Central Bark regulations, click here . Good dog!
