First session to focus on California employment law changes.
The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the launch of a monthly luncheon series as part of its goal to add new programming for members. Each session will feature a different topic aimed at providing member companies with insights that apply directly to their businesses.
The series kicks off February 4 with a California employment law update by attorneys Brian Koegle and David Poole from Poole & Shaffery, LLP. Their presentation will focus on changes to employment laws in California that take effect this year and how they will impact businesses.
“I am delighted to bring this new networking opportunity to the membership of the SCV Chamber and the business community of the Santa Clarita Valley,” said 2010 Chairman of the Board John Shaffery, managing partner of Poole & Shaffery, LLP. “Our existing Good Morning SCV and Business After Hours events each target different audiences. The luncheons will reach another important segment of the membership base – presidents and CEOs of our larger member companies.”
The schedule of upcoming lunches includes:
- March 4 – Santa Clarita City Council Candidates Forum
- April 1 – Dan McBrearty, Senior Development Manager for the Walt Disney Company, will provide an overview of the ABC Disney at the Ranch Studio Project, which will bring thousands of new jobs and millions of dollars in economic impact to the community.
- May 6 – Fred Arnold, past president of the California Association of Mortgage Brokers, will present the Santa Clarita Valley 2010 Real Estate Real Estate Outlook and Forecast.
The luncheons will be held the first Thursday of each month at the Hyatt Regency Valencia Hotel, 24500 Town Center Dr., Valencia, CA 91355. They will begin at 11:45 a.m. and adjourn at 1:00 p.m. Cost of the luncheons will be $35 in advance and $40 at the door.
