Hunt Braly, Chair of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee announced today that the Chamber’s PAC will have two fund raising events in September and October in anticipation of the elections that are scheduled for November 7, 2006. The first event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 13, 2006. This event will provide current information on a number of the bond issues being placed before the California electorate. The special guest speaker for the evening is Mark Watts, a principal in Smith, Watts Consulting group. Mr. Watts company is a Sacramento based lobby firm. Mr. Watts is a former Undersecretary of Business, Housing and Transportation for the state of California. The Master of Ceremonies for the September 13 event is city councilman, Cameron Symth. The fundraiser will be held at the Valencia Country Club between 5:30PM-7:00PM.
The date and location for the October event has not been scheduled. The program for the event will be centered on the $160 million bond measure being proposed by the College of the Canyons Bond Measure Committee. Additionally, the candidates for the Castaic Lake Water Agency board of directors being supported by the PAC will be present.
The local PAC has raised in excess of $30,000. According to Mr. Braly, “The PAC distributes its proceeds to pro business candidates and issues in the Santa Clarita Valley.” Reservations for the event can be made by calling 661-259-6800 or by sending an email to huntb@hackerbraly.com.
