This fall, the Canyon Theatre Guild is presenting productions for both the whole family and more mature audiences opening this weekend. Bring your kids to see The Little Prince or be caught in the suspense of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Based on the popular children’s book, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery, this delightful, imaginative play tells a magical story of a disenchanted aviator who has crash-landed in the Sahara. While waiting for rescue, he meets a mysterious, regal “little man” who teaches him that “it is only with the heart that one can see rightly.” Colorful and mesmerizing, the world of the Little Prince comes to life on the stage from October 1 through October 30. Every Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. on October 2, 23 and 30; Sundays at 6:30 on October 9 and 16. Tickets are $12 for juniors/seniors and $15 for adults.

A new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” by Steven Dietz comes to life on stage at the Canyon Theatre Guild for the Halloween season. Suspenseful and seductive, this is a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker’s famous vampire. “I want your fear. For your fear, like a current, rushes through your body. Your fear makes your heart pound, it renders your veins rich and full. Your fear hemorrhages deliciously within you.” This production is haunting, exciting and definitely not recommended for children. “Dracula” has performances every Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. through October 29, with two Sunday matinees: October 9 and October 16 at 2:00 p.m. Friday evening performances are on October 21 and 28, both at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 for juniors/seniors and $15 for adults.
The Canyon Theatre Guild is located at 24242 Main Street, Newhall. The box office phone is 661-799-2702.
