One driver was arrested, 12 citations were issued and five vehicles were towed at a driving under the influence checkpoint conducted by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Friday night.
The checkpoint, which began at 7 p.m. Friday and concluded at 3 a.m. on Saturday morning was located on Sierra Highway at Dolan Way.
The goal of the checkpoint was to educate the community on the hazards of drunk driving while enforcing the D.U.I. laws of the State of California. The checkpoints are an ongoing attempt to safely remove drunk drivers from our streets and deter those who may be considering drinking and driving.
A total of 610 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and all were screened.
