The City of Santa Clarita is offering two fall child development classes designed to help prepare community kids for preschool and kindergarten. The classes, My Buddy and Me and Terrific Tots, begin the week of September 13 and lasts for 14 weeks.
My Buddy and Me is an exciting parent participation class offering parents and children quality play time together with stories, songs, motor development activities and free play.
The class, available for kids 2-3 years of age, is held one day per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-11:00 a.m. or Fridays from 9-10:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Enrollment in the 14-week program is $95 for Tuesday classes, $82 for Thursday classes, and $89 for Friday classes, which are prorated to incorporate City holidays.
“The classes offered in the City’s child development program help kids develop the skills necessary for social interaction and adjust more easily to a traditional school environment,” said Mayor Laurene Weste.
Terrific Tots is offered for kids 3-4 years of age and will provide children with the opportunity to develop social and classroom skills while making new friends and preparing for preschool. The class curriculum involves play, arts, crafts, music, stories and more fun activities. Classes are held for two hours, twice weekly on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.
Enrollment for this 14-week program is $254 for Monday and Wednesday class and $236 for Tuesday and Thursday class, which is prorated to incorporate City holidays. Morning and afternoon classes are available and parent participation is required in up to five classes throughout the 14-week session.
Terrific Tots and My Buddy and Me classes are offered at Santa Clarita Park, located at 27285 Seco Canyon Rd; Canyon Country Park, located at 17615 West Soledad Canyon Road; and Valencia Glen Park, located at 23750 Via Gavola.
