Sheriff’s chili cook-off will put SCV taste buds to the test.
[view:node_ad=5]This Saturday, Sheriff’s deputies will weep.
But it will have nothing to do with emotions, and everything
to do with the spice-meter at the chili booths.
The Fun in the Sun Chili cook-off event brings different
segments of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department together at the Jack
Bones Equestrian
Center in Castaic. There, homicide
detectives will go toe to toe with patrol deputies, gang detectives and others
to make the best chili.
The chili cook-off serves as a fundraiser for the Special
Olympics and Heads Up Therapy on Horseback.
Aside from chili galore, BBQ restaurant Cowboy Cantina will
be cooking up their own fare. Live bands, an antique car display, equine
demonstrations, military displays, a whole children’s section and a Texas Hold
‘em event will round out the day.
Fun In the Sun Chili Cook-off “chili cards” will be sold the
day of the event for $5 each, entitling tasting of the various chili event
entries.
The Jack Bones
Equestrian Center
is accessible via the Parker Road
exit off the northbound Interstate 5 to Castaic Road
south. Continue ½ mile to Tapia
Canyon Road east, and follow the signs to the
event.
The day starts at 10:00 a.m.
and ends at 4:00 p.m.
