CHP Motorcycle Accident Shuts Down San Fernando

Officer reportedly has moderate injuries.

 Early Monday morning a CHP motorcycle unit was involved in an accident on San Fernando Road near Railroad Avenue.

The accident shut down traffic on the road, however one lane was re-opened around 7:00am., and by 8:00 traffic was normal.

 

The CHP motorcycle officer was on his way to work at the Altadena station, traveling southbound on Railroad Avenue to Southbound San Fernando Road. The officer reportedly didn't realize there was a van stopped at the railroad crossing waiting for the railroad arms to raise. The CHP motorcycle collided with the back of the van. Only the officer was injured, suffering  a broken nose and some lacerations.
