CHP Recommends Manslaughter Charges Against Bus Driver In Fatal Crash

Recommendation still in hands of district attorney.

A report completed by the California Highway Patrol recommends filing vehicular manslaughter charges against David Delape, the driver of the Santa Clarita Transit bus involved in a fatal crash January 18 on The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch.

Delape, 49, was behind the wheel of the bus that struck 25-year old Janine M. Doughlin’s Toyota Camry as she entered the intersection at Consitution Avenue. Doughlin died at the scene.

Officer John Lutz said that he could not comment further on the report, which is in the hands of the L.A. County District Attorney.  A spokesperson for that office said that they have requested additional information from investigators and that a filing decision is expected some time this week.
