A local California Highway Patrol officer and his Explorer ridealong passenger suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon when their patrol car rolled over in Placerita Canyon.
According to CHP Officer John Lutz, Officer Terrence Roach and an Explorer assigned to the Newhall station were traveling northbound on Placerita Canyon Road enroute to assist with a traffic stop when they entered a left-hand curve and the right wheels left the road.
Roach lost control of the car and it crossed the road, the back end slipping, and hit a telephone pole. The front end of the car then hit an embankment and the car overturned, skidding 150 feet on its roof before ending up on the southbound shoulder.
Both the officer and the Explorer were able to get out of the vehicle by themselves, but both were taken to the hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
