Drinking and driving are a deadly combination and the CHP wants to create awareness to deter the public from driving under the influence.
The CHP Newhall Area Office will be conducting a DUI checkpoint somewhere in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County from Friday 8:30 p.m. until Saturday 2:30 a.m.
The goal of the DUI checkpoints is to create awareness among the motoring public and to deter people from driving under the influence.
Even though the arrest totals do not rise dramatically, the psychological influence a checkpoint has on the public is one of major value for the CHP.
If an individual has an outstanding DUI warrant, they can turn themselves in at their local CHP office, or risk being arrested wherever they are found.
