People of all ages danced and sang along in the stands, enjoying the variety of bands at Glory SCV. Hundreds continued to show up at the stadium throughout the day-long concert from 3-10 p.m.
Glory SCV featured Citizen Way, We Are Messengers, I AM THEY, Hawk Nelson and Newsboys.
Glory SCV was created to “bring Christian believers together to have a day where they can worship as a community,” according to Barry McKeever, the event organizer.
“It’s really amazing that the Newsboys came here to Santa Clarita, they’re one of the biggest international Christian Rock bands,” said McKeever, referring to the headlining act. The audience enjoyed their music, singing along, with Newsboys lead singer, Michael Tait.
“What’s unique about Christian bands is they are very approachable. The four opening national-level bands were out signing autographs and interacting with fans in the VIP section,” said McKeever.
The event benefited Compassion International, which offers sponsorships for children in need. Their website states: “In response to the Great Commission, Compassion exists as an advocate for children to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty, enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults. Releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.”
The family-friendly event was put on by Transparent Productions and was supported by volunteers from 12 local churches. Nearly 30 vendors served the large crowd, offering food, band merchandise and various products sold by Christian merchants.
