What started as a backyard fundraiser and has grown steadily over 10 years, is returning to the Santa Clarita Valley on Saturday, Oct. 12. Circle of Hope’s annual Afternoon Tea and Cocktail Reception will be held at Robinson Ranch in Canyon Country this year, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Janice Murray, Circle of Hope board member and host of the “Non-Profit Spotlight” on KHTS AM-1220 said that they expect between 200 and 250 people at the event.
All proceeds will go to support Circle of Hope’s mission of providing financial, emotional and educational resources for uninsured and underinsured individuals undergoing breast cancer treatment, their families, and the community.
Murray also said that the board decided to expand Circle of Hope’s scope to include other cancers, and men’s cancers as well.
This year the reception will feature keynote speaker Sandra Mitchell, KCAL9/KCBS2 news anchor, who will share her experiences as a broadcast journalist, world traveler and breast cancer survivor.
In addition to cocktails and traditional afternoon tea–including scones and finger foods–guests will enjoy silent auction items and the opportunity to purchase an exclusive Brighton Collectibles bracelet. The 2013 “Power of Pink” bracelet is available in limited supply.
Murray said that in the past, the event has been popular in the community.
“The community supports us very well,” she said, noting that a large portion of Circle of Hope’s finances are provided by the tea.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Afternoon Tea is one of many different beneficiary events throughout the month. Click here for a full calendar.
