New information available to residents.
The city of Santa Clarita will be discussing the results of a recently completed study which looks into the prospect of incorporating several local areas into City jurisdiction.
Stevenson Ranch, Westridge, Castaic and Tesoro are currently in Los Angeles County unincorporated zones, and the study estimates how the area residents would be affected if an annexation into the city of Santa Clarita were to occur.
This new city-funded study investigated financial and service related impacts to residents, both negative and positive.
The details of this report will be presented at the following community meetings in the coming week:
Monday September 21, 2009
6:30 – 8:00 PM
Rancho Pico Junior High School
26250 Valencia Blvd
Valencia, CA 91381
Thursday September 24, 2009
6:30 – 8:00 PM
Castaic Middle School
28900 Hillcrest Parkway
Castaic, CA 91384
The City funded the study to the tune of $25,000, and it serves as a counterpart to a previously released County-funded study, which weighed the feasibility of the unincorporated areas forming their own City. (The details of the County-funded study were revealed to residents in two separate town meetings on June 16 in Stevenson Ranch and June 19 in Castaic. Click here for details of those meetings: Stevenson Ranch – Castaic)
On November 3rd the area will vote on a non-binding resolution which asks residents whether they would like to form their own city, stay as an unincorporated portion of Los Angeles County, or annex into the city of Santa Clarita. The results of that vote will guide the area town council, LA County and city of Santa Clarita leaders moving forward.
