City Begins Median Work On Wiley And Soledad

Road medians are about to get a lot better looking as city crews are working on construction and landscaping on Wiley Canyon Road between Orchard Village Road and Lyons Avenue, as well as on Soledad Canyon Road just east of Bouquet Canyon Road.

Both construction projects are being handled by the City of Santa Clarita’s Special Districts division and are scheduled for completion toward the end of summer.

For the Wiley Canyon Road project, the City will be replacing turf with shrubs and will also be upgrading an irrigation system that is more than 20 years old. The project will dramatically increase water conservation by more than one million gallons annually through improved irrigation standards and the installation of plants that reduce water usage while beautifying the medians.

“The median construction projects continue the City’s ongoing efforts toward resource conservation and street beautification, further enhancing residents’ quality of life while reducing our impact on the environment,” said Mayor Frank Ferry.

The Soledad Canyon Road median construction project will enhance the aesthetics of one of Santa Clarita’s major corridors, as part of the City’s effort to develop beautification and improve irrigation standards. The majority of the work will be conducted at night to avoid disrupting busy morning and afternoon travel.
