This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, a day that changed America forever. On Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at 10 a.m. the City of Santa Clarita City Council invites community members to join local, state and national leaders in a minute of silence titled the “Moment of Remembrance” to pay tribute to the nearly 3,000 Americans who lost their lives.

“We encourage the entire community to participate in the national ‘Moment of Remembrance’ in honor of the men and women who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001,” Mayor Marsha McLean said. “This countrywide effort is a symbol of our nation’s continuous solidarity and patriotism, both of which will never waver.”

On Sunday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. every person in Santa Clarita is encouraged to stop all activity and remember the victims and first responders lost one decade ago. Firehouses, churches, police departments and other institutions across the City are asked to sound sirens and ring bells during that minute to demonstrate that the American people remain united and hopeful for the future.
