The City Council will be holding their regular meeting on Tuesday and their agenda will be a full one.
First on the list is a resolution renaming the Golden Valley Bridge the “Deputy Cameron Glover Memorial Bridge” to honor Glover who was killed in an off duty motorcycle collision on April 28.
The City Council will also be deciding on a resolution to remove term limits for appointments to city boards and commissions.
During the previous meeting, community members spoke against the resolution, claiming fresh ideas and new people will help the city boards and commissions. City Council members disagreed because in either case of term limits, all appointments must be approved by the council.
Lastly on the agenda for Tuesday night the city will instruct the Santa Clarita Sanitation District Board to develop a legal strategy in response to the water quality law that could force rate increases for residents.
During the Sanitation District Board meeting, board members voted to send out notices to residents that their rates could be increased to comply with water quality standards. For the original story, click here.
Other routine items on the agenda include awarding several service contracts for security and tree trimming services. Also on the agenda is to change part of the city unified development code approving aspects of annexations regarding building standards from areas annexed by Santa Clarita from LA County.
The Council will also decide on adopting a resolution passed by the Orangeline Development Authority (OLDA) on April 14. The OLDA is a joint agency formed by southern California cities to pursue environmentally friendly transit systems.
