City Hires New Planning & Econ. Dev. Director

Paul Brotzman Named to Head City Planning & Econ. Dev. Department

City Manager Ken Pulskamp is pleased to announce the appointment of the City’s new Planning and Economic Development Director, Paul D. Brotzman.

Mr. Brotzman was hired following a nation-wide recruitment search and will begin his new job with the City on April 1, 2005.

Mr. Brotzman is a former public sector manager and private sector CEO, bringing to Santa Clarita, combined, nearly 35 years of experience.

He served as the city manager for the City of West Hollywood from 1985 through 1996. In this capacity, he helped to establish a new government structure and develop a system for the delivery of city services.

He also worked for the City of Martinez, California from 1979 through 1985, helping revitalize the historic old town, expand and develop a regional waterfront park and city-operated marina, as well as develop a city park and trail network.

Mr. Brotzman brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in planning, land use, and zoning work.

“Paul has a unique combination of experience, including a great deal of expertise in economic development, redevelopment, and planning. I am looking forward to working with Paul and moving our economic development and planning department forward,” commented Ken Pulskamp, City Manager.

Prior to coming to Santa Clarita, Brotzman also worked as the owner and board member for the Four Winds Trading Company Inc., from 1997 to the present.

“I am looking forward to starting my new job in Santa Clarita. I have been very impressed with the strong economic climate, the engaged community, and the terrific opportunities Santa Clarita poses,” commented Brotzman.

Brotzman’s salary is $132,828 annually
