The City of Santa Clarita is proud to present a free parenting workshop Wednesday August 24, 2005 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Valencia Library. The workshop, entitled “Raising Kids of Character Parenting Pointers,” is aimed at helping parents and guardians raise kind and respectful children. The Valencia Library is located at 23743 Valencia Boulevard. The workshop will be held in the community room.
Carole Cliffe, an educational consultant, author, and member of the CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition, will lead the session, and will give participants information about the various resources available from the library. Literature from the children’s section of the library will be available and ideas for incorporating family and bedtime story reading will be featured.
This workshop is one in a series of free parenting workshops sponsored by the City of Santa Clarita throughout the year. The City also conducts a number of low-cost parenting classes that encourage active parenting and develop parenting skills for all stages of parenthood.
The Santa Clarita CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition provides encouragement, resources, support to the community and its schools, churches, businesses, and non-profit and for-profit organizations, as they strive to advance the standard of good character and incorporate the Six Pillars of Character into their organizations and daily lives. The Six Pillars include: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
“We are excited to provide parents and guardians with free workshops such as this one to help them sharpen their parenting skills,” says Veronica Navarro, for the City. “It can be difficult for busy parents to get a hold of the support that they need, and so the City tries to make parenting resources easily accessible for everyone.”
