Through a recently executed agreement with Fountain Glen Properties LLP, the City of Santa Clarita Redevelopment Agency (RDA) has met its current affordable housing obligation and is in full compliance with State RDA affordable housing regulations.
Regulations stipulate that when new market-rate housing is built within RDA project areas, the Agency must ensure that there are a prescribed number of affordable housing units produced. The affordable housing obligation is incurred over the ten-year RDA Affordable Housing Plan filed with the State. The City had until June 30, 2007 to comply. “The City is extremely pleased to have come into compliance with State Redevelopment Agency regulations so early,” said Paul Brotzman, Community Development Director for the City. “We know how important it is to ensure that affordable housing is available in Santa Clarita, and will continue to work on providing such housing in the future.” As stipulated by State regulation, a total of two new affordable housing units were still needed to meet the obligation incurred when 14 market-rate homes were built within RDA project area. The recent agreement with Fountain Glen Properties brought the City into full compliance with the construction of the final two affordable housing units.
