The City of Santa Clarita is pleased to announce the launch of its brand new Whittaker Bermite website at www.whittakerbermite.com. Recently going live, this website is a useful tool that the community can use to learn what is happening with the property, including community meetings, for this long-term project.
The Whittaker-Bermite property is a 996 acre site of undeveloped land located south of Soledad Canyon Road behind the Santa Clarita Metrolink station. A former munitions testing and manufacturing site, the property has contamination issues including perchlorate, volatile organic compounds, and both soil and groundwater contamination. The land is being cleaned up under the supervision of the state Department of Toxic Substances Control.
