City Library To Host Free Events Throughout April

The City of Santa Clarita Public Library will host a series of free educational events during April at each of its library branches including Canyon Country, Valencia and Old Town Newhall.

Community members of all ages are invited to participate in educational programs and services available at the Santa Clarita Public Library, including:

  • Solar 101 Workshop- The Old Town Newhall Library will host two green-friendly workshops with demonstrations on how solar energy works.  Sponsored by Green Convergence, a kid’s workshop will be hosted on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 3:00 p.m.

  • Green Slam ARTivity- As part of the City’s ArtSlam event on Thursday, April 4, kids and teens are invited to participate in a recycled art project with local artist Jan Doukakis at the Old Town Newhall Library at 4:00 p.m.

  • El Dia de los Ninos/Dia de los Libros Celebration- The Canyon Country and Old Town Newhall Library will host a free event celebrating El Dia de los Ninos on Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 a.m. for residents of all ages. The event will feature a variety of activities, including: storytime, face painting, crafts, a family movie, a concert featuring Nathalia Palis, and each child will receive a free book.

  • John Bergstrom Performance- In anticipation of the 20th annual Cowboy Festival on April 20th and April 21st, the Old Town Newhall Library will host a free performance by Western balladeer John Bergstrom on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 3:00 p.m.

  • Attica Locke Author Event- The Valencia Library will host a free author event featuring successful screenwriter and author Attica Locke, who will discuss her novels Black Water Rising and The Cutting Season on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

  • Magic of the Old West- Residents are invited to celebrate the 20th annual Cowboy Festival with World Class Magician Lincoln Bond on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at the Valencia Library.

  • Meet & Greet with Author Ted Faye- Residents are invited to meet author Ted Faye from the Santa Clarita Historical Society on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Old Town Newhall Library.  A book discussion and signing of his newest novel Twenty Mule Team will be available.
