City News: Toy Train To Visit Newhall, Recycling Program Set Up For Trees

Celebrate the spirit of the season while helping spread holiday cheer to others! On Sunday, December 5, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Newhall Metrolink Station to be picked up by Santa, Mrs. Claus and their friends aboard the Metrolink Holiday Toy Express!

 

 

Once again, Santa’s glittering train will make a stop in Santa Clarita to entertain families and collect toys to be donated to the Southland Firefighters’ “Spark of Love” toy drive, sponsored by Metrolink and KABC Channel 7. The 450-ton train, decorated with holiday displays and 50,000 twinkling lights, will deliver a live musical performance, Santa Claus, and community fun to Santa Clarita residents of all ages! RECYCLE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE

City residents may recycle their Christmas trees for free!  Simply remove all ornaments, tinsel and bulbs and place your tree curbside on your regular trash/recycling pick up day, beginning December 26 through January 8, 2011.  Your tree will be picked up and used for garden mulch.  For more information, contact the City’s Environmental Services Division at 661-286-4098.
