City of Santa Clarita To Host Used Oil Filter Recycling Event

Recycle and receive a voucher for a free oil filter.

The City of Santa Clarita will be hosting two used oil filter collection events at Kragen Auto Parts on May 20 and June 17, 2006.

Kragen Auto Parts is located at 26850 Sierra Hwy. in Santa Clarita. The two events will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The City is hosting these events as part of its coordinated effort to increase participation in the City’s curbside oil and filter recycling program, as well as raise overall environmental awareness about the need to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Residents who bring their used oil filters to the event for recycling will receive a voucher for a free filter to be redeemed at Kragen. This offer is limited to the first 250 residents each event day. Oil recycling kits will also be distributed at the event to City residents. Proof of residency is required for both the voucher and recycling kit.

The kits, purchased with grant funding from the California Integrated Waste Management Board, include a collection container, funnel, shop rag, filter bag, spill mat, and tire gauge. Following the Kragen Auto Parts events, residents are encouraged to continue their used oil and filter recycling efforts by calling Curbside Inc. at 1-800-HHW-PKUP (1-800-449-7587) to schedule home collection of these and other household hazardous wastes; or residents can deliver the oil and filters to a local Certified Collection Center, which includes Kragen Auto Parts.
