The City of Santa Clarita invites all company managers and owners interested in doing business with the City to attend a free, informational “Vendor Outreach Program” workshop from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, December 2.
The workshop will include information about the City’s “10% local preference” program, and review how to properly complete quotes, bids, and proposals and become a vendor for the City of Santa Clarita. The workshop will take place in the Century Room of City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard.

Practicing its own advocacy to shop local, the City offers a “10% local preference” to Santa Clarita companies, which means if a local company’s bid is within 10% of the lowest bidders price (and the company is not local), the local company has the opportunity to meet the low bid and secure the business. This policy helps increase the chances that bids on City projects and procurements are available to local businesses.
The City currently works with thousands of local, regional and national companies when doing business, but is continuously looking for ways to increase awareness at the local level. Bid information is posted on Santa Clarita’s website and is also sent directly to registered vendors, so it’s important that companies interested in doing business with the City are in communication with the City’s purchasing division.
“We are committed to responsible fiscal spending and do so by competitively shopping for the best price for products and procurements,” said Mayor Marsha McLean. “We are also committed to supporting local business and shopping local whenever possible, so this is a great opportunity for local companies to meet with us and better understand how we work.”
