City Okays Public Television JPA

news_citymattersHart District, COC still need to approve plan.

Public Television in Santa Clarita continues to evolve, as the City, which was forced to take over public access T.V. in January, approved a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) which will generate content for the fledging station.

Four main partners make up the JPA:

  • SCVTV, who won the contract to run the station;
  • KHTS AM-1220 Radio;
  • William S. Hart School District;
  • College of the Canyons.

Each entity will help provide content for the channel, and the City hopes that the partnership will help to create a dynamic programming lineup.

The governing boards of both the Hart District and College of the Canyons still need to officially approve their association with the JPA, and they are expected to vote on that in August.
