City Promotes Community Health

Recent news articles are full of information about the rising problems caused by increasing obesity in our country. Modern convenience and our “remote control” world have resulted in a less than fit culture. In an effort to help promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce the amount of “couch potatoes” in Santa Clarita, the City of Santa Clarita has launched a new website, www.HealthySantaClarita.com.

“Over the last decade or so, we have seen more and more ailments linked directly to unhealthy lifestyles. The goal of our Healthy Santa Clarita initiative and the Healthy Santa Clarita website is to educate the community on the benefits of healthy living, as well as give our community the tools and local resources to implement better nutrition, fitness and exercise into their everyday lives,” said Mayor Cameron Smyth.

The Healthy Santa Clarita website is designed to address the specific needs of children, teens and adults, each on their own levels. www.HealthySantaClarita.com includes information about nutritional goals, snack ideas and daily benchmarks. In addition, fitness and exercise information on the site will help achieve fitness goals while participating in activities that are enjoyable. Participants can chart their progress by utilizing the printable exercise and nutrition tracking charts available at www.HealthySantaClarita.com.

The Healthy Santa Clarita website is a great resource to find listings of local health-related businesses and organizations, as well as those that provide health services.
