Soccer, Basketball and Softball Seasons Will Start in September

 

Summer sports are wrapping up and the City of Santa Clarita is preparing for its fall soccer, basketball, and softball leagues. “Adult sports are great for healthy and friendly competition, a fun way to stay in shape, and a wonderful way to meet other sport enthusiasts,” said Cynthia Tarver, sports recreation supervisor. “Adult sports are always a popular recreational activity enjoyed by many Santa Clarita residents.” Adult Soccer is comprised of two leagues, men’s open and co-ed. Priority team’s registration, for those returning, is on Monday, August, 7 and Tuesday, August, 8 from 3 to 9 p.m. New team registration is on Saturday, August 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Soccer season begins Sunday, September 10, and runs for 10 weeks. All games are played at Central Park. Each league has a fee of $412 plus $110 forfeit deposit for the men’s open and a $90 forfeit deposit for co-ed.

 

Adult basketball also offers two divisions — men’s open and women’s open. Team registration begins Monday, August 14, through Friday, September 1, from 3 to 9 p.m. League play will start on Tuesday, September 19. All games will be played at the George A. Caravalho Santa Clarita Sports Complex. The season runs up to 10 weeks and league fees are $313 plus a $50 forfeit deposit.

 

Fall Adult Slow-Pitch Softball offers three divisions — men, women, and co-ed leagues. Priority (returning) team registration is on Monday, August 21, and Tuesday, August 22, 3 to 9 p.m. New team registration is on Friday, August 25, 3 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The season begins Sunday, September 17 and runs 10 weeks. All games are played at various City parks. Fees are $412 for men, women, and co-ed and $387 for regulation leagues, plus a $50 forfeit deposit.

 

Registration for adult soccer, basketball, and softball leagues will be held during the month of August at the Central Park sports office. The age minimum for all sports is 16 years and is open to all Santa Clarita Valley residents and non-residents. To join a league you must sign up as team. Central Park will keep a free-agent’s listing for those individuals that do not have a team.
