“It also houses the hazardous material squad, and firefighters there are specially trained in hazardous material,” said Stephanie English, a spokesperson for the Department. “This includes railroad incidents and chemical spills but they will also respond to everyday emergencies,” added English.

Several new fire stations were approved as a result of anticipated population growth concluded after a 2006 study done by the LA Fire Department and the City of Santa Clarita, bringing the total of local stations to sixteen.

The dedication will take place on Friday, March 29, at 10:00 a.m. Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar and Fifth District County Supervisor Michael Antonovich are scheduled to attend.
