City To Host Arbor Day Celebration Saturday

Central Park to get even greener for recycling, environmental fair.

 

Feeling green? You can learn all about saving the planet and improving your carbon footprint Saturday at the City of Santa Clarita’s 19th annual Arbor Day celebration.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be giveaways, demonstrations and entertainment at Central Park, including free trees, mulch and energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Meet Smokey the Bear, learn the proper way to plant a tree, enjoy the music of the band “Midlife Crisis” and bring the kids for face painting, a rock climbing wall, obstacle course, wood crafts and birdhouse building and painting.

There will be raffles and a free composting workshop, with free compost bins for the first 10 people to sign up.
