Everyone is invited to a special kick off meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 15 for the new Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library. The meeting also coincides with the City’s 24th birthday. The meeting will be held in the community room of the Valencia Library at 23743 Valencia Boulevard.
The now-forming Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library is open to all those interested in supporting our public library. The kick off meeting on December 15 will include a special welcome from Mayor Pro Tem Laurie Ender, as well as a program overview of the Friends group. Refreshments will be served including a birthday cake to help celebrate the City’s birthday.
“Joining the Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library is a great opportunity to meet new people, to help operate the library book stores and to participate in fundraising events that benefit the three branches of the Santa Clarita Public Library. We encourage anyone interested in serving our community through our City library branches to consider attending the kick-off meeting and joining the new Friends group,” commented Mayor Marsha McLean.
The new Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library is envisioned as a member-supported, non-profit organization that advocates, fundraises, and provides critical support for the Santa Clarita Public Library and related literary and educational programs.
It is anticipated that the group will provide the community with opportunities to invest in the success of the Santa Clarita Public Library through volunteering.
