City to Offer Reward for Information Leading to Suspect of Newborn Homicide

Reward money comes from the Council Contingency Account

The City of Santa Clarita is offering $10,000 to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the homicide of a newborn girl found at the Polynesian Mobile Home Park last Tuesday. “It is imperative that we seek justice for this little girl,” said Ken Pulskamp, City Manager of Santa Clarita.

In November of 1996, City Council formally adopted a reward policy. Since then, the city has offered rewards to assist the Sheriff’s Department with solving crimes in particular cases. The reward money comes from the Council Contingency Account with the City of Santa Clarita. On May 2, 2006 around 7:45 p.m., a woman searching for recyclables in a trash bin found the body of a baby girl, umbilical cord attached, wrapped in a plastic bag. The baby is described as Caucasian or Hispanic.

A recent autopsy ruled the death of the newborn as a homicide. Investigators are still determining If the newborn was left by a resident of the park or an outsider.

No leads have been received in identifying a suspect. Anyone with information regarding the newborn homicide should immediately contact Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
