Dena Maloney is the College’s choice.
As the opening date for the College of the Canyon’s new Canyon Country campus rapidly approaches, the school’s board picked Dena Maloney to lead it.
Maloney is a long time administrator from College of the Canyons, and this morning on KHTS AM-1220, she expressed excitement about her new job.
“It’s a big opportunity for me, but it’s an even bigger opportunity for the community…to have this beautiful new campus that’s going to serve so many students and open so many doors and provide access to higher education,” said Maloney.
Maloney takes the helm of the campus which will serve the east side of Santa Clarita beginning in August.
“Thirty two percent of our students have a Canyon Country zip code,” said Maloney. An even higher number of prospective students could choose the Canyon Country site in the future due to its location.
The same level of education will be provided at the new campus, and will include such popular programs as the early college high school, general education classes, and some specialized courses.
Registration for classes in Canyon Country will begin on July 9th, and a special schedule of classes specifically for the new campus is being mailed to all Canyon Country residences.
The normal schedule of classes will also include the Canyon Country Campus.
A grand opening party will be held at the new campus on September 15th, and the public is invited to come take a campus tour on that day.
