According to a study by Community College Week, COC is the fastest growing two year institution in the nation.
The study looked at the absolute change in the enrollment numbers between fall 2004 and fall 2005. They also separated colleges by size, with categories ranging between less than 2,500 students, and those with 10,000 or more.
College of the Canyons is in the highest category; over 10,000 students.
The numbers add up to a 14.3% growth, good enough for 1st place!
The next three highest growing community colleges were also located in California.
Measure M was passed last month, and in campaigning for that measure, school officials constantly argued that they were growing at a faster pace than they could keep up with. This study will no doubt lend credence to that!
